Solo vs TripIt (2026): one-time trip app or a $49-a-year organizer?

Compared, September 2026

Solo vs TripIt
A list of your bookings, or the whole trip as an app.

TripIt has organized travel confirmations for 20 years: forward the email, get a timeline. Solo takes the same confirmations and builds a trip app with the days, the tickets, the map, the photos and the flight alerts inside, for one payment instead of a subscription.

Where TripIt is the better choice

  • You fly for work 20 times a year and want seat tracking, fare-drop alerts and loyalty point tracking in one place.
  • You want every trip you ever took in one account with calendar sync.
  • You need it to exist for another 20 years. TripIt is owned by SAP Concur and built for corporate travel.

Where Solo is the better choice

  • You take one to three real trips a year and do not want a subscription for them.
  • You want the trip to look like a trip: the Colosseum at the top, the day laid out, the tickets in hand, not a text list.
  • You travel with family or friends and want everyone on the same app without accounts.
  • You want flight alerts, offline access and an AI assistant included, not gated behind Pro.
